Joplin, Missouri Tornado

Joplin, Missouri Tornado

2012

Destruction after the tornado. Poured Out immediately responded.

On May 22, 2011 an EF5 Multi-Vortex tornado struck the city of Joplin. This tornado killed 158 people and injured an estimated 1,100 people. Approximately $2.8 billion in damages were accrued. Poured Out dispatched the US disaster response team to aid in relief efforts. We were able to help cut trees and remove houses that were falling down and dangerous. We participated in larger distribution days for much needed supplies like bottled water and also provided meals for many families affected. We brought a few weeks of volunteers that were able to rebuild some houses as well! An early deployment for Poured Out, but one that made a huge impact! We truly felt that we were able to assist those affected in Joplin and encourage many with our efforts.
