Pomme Mountain Elementary School
To come to this school, the children of Pomme Mountain travel from distances up to 8km. Attendance depends on weather conditions; the height of the river, how stable the mud trails are, or how strong the Atlantic wind gusts are. The school services anywhere from 50 to 100 children dependent on weather conditions. This school, tucked away 2,000 feet up Pomme Mountain, uses water collected from shallow riverbeds at the base of the mountain. This water has tested as highly contaminated and causes sickness and death on a monthly basis for the people of Pomme Mountain.
Follow Up Date: October 2012
The Pomme Mountain Elementary School is excited to have their new building! A group of Poured Out volunteers constructed the school/church in April of 2012, which can accommodate far more children than the previous tiny building. The children are drinking clean water while they are at the school!
